Why are black holes spinning?
Let’s start from the beginning. When a really big star die, the internal core collapse under his own gravity giving place to black holes. So, now that massive star became into the tiniest thing you can imagine in the universe.
As you well know, stars are always spinning, and when they become smaller they are also spinning. This is due to a fundamental property of space, that says that: things that are spinning don’t want to stop spinning. It’s called the angular momentum.

So when the core of a star collapses, its momentum makes it spin faster and faster, until it forms a new black hole; and the black hole continues spinning really really fast.
They thing becomes interesting when scientist discovered that this particular black holes have all their mass concentrated on their core.
Should you avoid a black hole?
Well, as you know the black hole is spinning so fast, that it morphs space and time itself. The consequences of this effect is traduced on a new region of space-time: the Ergosphere. Inside the Ergosphere nothing makes sense, we can’t apply none of our physics…
But here comes the cool part, the black holes produces a lot of energy that in the future we could take advantage of. As Stephen Hawking conclude, if we could send a rocket into the ergosphere of the black hole. In this way we could obtain rotational and mass energy. This is because:
The boost from the rotation of the black hole is so intense, that you could leave the ergosphere with much more energy than you entered it.

So, how is formed a black hole bomb?
We would only need two things in order to build a black hole bomb: a black hole and a really big quantic mirror, that has to envelope the hole black hole. This megastructure will emit the energy of an entire star, but for doing so, we would only need to open a window in our mirror and shoot electromagnetic waves at the black hole. The waves would hit the black hole hole at the speed of the light, when they go through the ergosphere, the black hole amplifies them.
The waves would be getting exponentially stronger as they bounce around between the mirror and the black hole.
By opening some of the mirror windows, we could obtain the energy that it has been produced, which in theory, it would be an endless source of energy for trillions of years.
This is not science fiction, in the far future, this might be the only way to survive. When all the universe will be without any kind of energy, black holes will be the unique solution. But, there are still a lot of things that we don’t know about this mysterious black holes.
